49ers Fancast #86 – Giant Game, Giant Fail
The 49ers tried to win this game to make a point, not to win the game. They tried to outscheme the Giants and got away from what wins. The Colin Crapernick experiment is for teams like Buffalo and the Jets, not the Giants. All of this and more in this loser episode!

Damn, I was actually going to call for a change but it looks like I missed the boat. I am going to keep my opinion of the game brief.
We gave up way to early. Alex threw 30 times Gore rushed 8 times. Huge fail. WE WERE ONLY DOWN BY 7 AT HALFTIME!!! Yet we still gave up on the run in the second quarter. The giants did not blow us away 50+ yards of Bradshaw’s total came in the 4th quarter when they were up by 20. Eli threw for under 200 yards and only had 1 TD. We basically got behind and panicked. I am usually a big supporter of Alex Smith but he dropped the ball in the game. His INTs were the difference maker. It would have been a closer game if he had thrown it away or had incomplete passes and we punted but he was forcing it. Maybe he was trying to prove the 49ers should have won in the playoffs and pressing. I really hate the whole Wild Kaep thing, at least how it was used in this game. You bring Kaep out 1st and 2nd down then make Smith come out and convert on 3rd? It screws up the whole rhythm. I just didn’t understand most of the play calling on Sunday and I hope it is corrected by tomorrow.

I apologize for the above typos.

well said, theborch. Well said, indeed. Especially that part about giving up on the run wayyyy too early. Frank still needs 15-18 carries a game no matter the score. That sets up the offense and helps them get in sync, IMHO.

just because I am a math guy and semi-obsessed with stats I looked up something…
Gore:
1st Qtr – 1 rec, 6 rushes
2nd Qtr – 2 rec, 2 rushes
3rd Qtr – 0 rec, 0 rush
4th Qtr – 1 rec, 0 rush
This is the clear fail that was the #49ers play calling against NYG. They gave up running in the 2nd quarter.
Anyway that will be last comment on the NYG game. Everything after this will be all on Seattle.
Russell Wilson is not very good on the road and the Seattle Offense as a whole is not as effective. Their defense is statistically about the same either at home or away so I imagine that we are going to see a grind it out game. The 49ers winning 20-17 or 17-14 or along those lines is how I think it will go.
