Jim,
I really enjoyed podcast number 75. The players we should look at in free agency at wide receiver…..
Marques Colston
Robert Meecham
Vincent Jackson
Deshawn Jackson
Dwayne Bowe
Reggie Wayne

I would have left a message but it would have been to long
Love the show, here is my wish list for Free agency.
Top players to resign:
Alex Smith
Tramaine Brock
Ahmad Brooks
Blake Costanzo
Reggie Smith
C.J. Spillman
Adam Snider
We had excellent special teams for the most part of the year, keep that unit together. I think Reggie Smith is a better cover safety then Dashon
Goldson and Donte Whiter is sufficient to add to run support. I only added Ahmad Brooks to list because there are not a ton of OLB’s with his cover skill in FA this year.
Resign only if the price is bargain:
Ted Ginn – Other teams might pay him as he is one of the PR,KR’s in the NFL
Josh Morgan – I think this is a deal we can get done
Dashon Goldson – Maybe but would not waste a franchise tag
Carlos Rogers – He is going to want to much $$
I would love to have all these guys back but only discounted prices. I think there are better safeties then Dashon Goldson out there that can be signed for less and Carlos Rodgers is only getting older and slower and I think a fair amount of his success can be attributed to the defensive scheme.
In free agency I would like if they looked at some of these guys:
Wide Out:
1st Tier:
Vincent Jackson
Dwayne Bowe
2end Tier:
Early Doucet
Eddie Royal
Pierre Garcon
Anthony Gonzalez
Guard:
Carl Nicks
Ben Grubbs
I really do not feel they need to make a huge splash with 2 wide outs in FA and there are many late round sleepers at Wide Out in this draft. It’s hard to talk about the draft because that will be party be contingent on what happens in FA.

- I want Ginn back too, but I do not think we should overpay for him… meaning, no more than 2-3 mil per year.
- Morgan coming back from injury? Only for a short term deal… no more than 2 mil per. Just playing the numbers game, this would be a matter of Morgan vs Kyle W. I think we will bring in 1 vet FA WR… and 1 rookie WR… add Crabtree, and that’s 3 WRs right there. We will only keep 2 more… so those 2 spots are out of Ginn, Morgan, and Kyle W… someone’s gotta hit the road.
- Ideally, get Snyder back, but not for more than 2 mil per, short term.
- Want Brooks back, but might be too tough on our cap to pay him a long, 6 mil per deal.
- Swain did nothing for me to want him back
- slap a 2nd rd tender on Grant… he’s worth it.
- tender Spillman with a lower level number… good depth and STs guy
Listened to your thoughts here about my earlier “plan” to slide Davis to RG and insert Boone to RT. I still love this idea. I know Boone was a LT at OSU, but he has looked good at both spots when SF used him, and I ultimately think his best fit is at RT. He’s not ideal in quickness or lateral movement for LT, yet he’s strong and nasty for the strong side. Right now, my perfect draft goes something like this:
rd 1. —– TE / Coby Fleener {Stanford}
* 6′ 6″, fast, and smart receiving weapon that can create wicked mismatches along with Vernon Davis.
rd 2. —– WR / Stephen Hill {Georgia Tech}
* 6′ 4″, 4.5 speed, raw route runner.. a baby Calvin Johnson!
rd 3. —– OT / Mitchell Schwartz {California}
* versatile for multiple spots on the line… scrappy and has a good anchor. Helps facilitate the Davis/Boone adjustment.
rds 4-7 — then we can add some defensive players at CB and OLB.

Dear Jim, Thank you for everything that you do here! I heard an interesting idea on how to get a great player with a low-First Round draft choice. I hope nobody said it in Listener Feedback. With the new collective bargaining agreement, the 49ers could tender an offer with a roster bonus (so it counts against this coming year’s salary cap) of 10-20 million for the Steelers’ Mike Wallace, and only have to surrender their First Round draft choice. Mike Wallace is a free agent, young proven thousand-yard receiver, maybe the fastest WR in the league, and the Steelers are 15 million over the salary cap and cannot match the bid. Only problem is, we are 30 million under the salary cap, but the Bengals are 60 million under the cap and can outbid us. This strategy would open up a lot of other blue-chip free agents, like RB Arian Foster.

Hi mate, First off thanks for reading out my Tweet was listening to it in work and was so shocked to hear it haha
Once again great podcast #75, i totaly agree with the players to resign the only thing i think Alex should be given a 2 year contract nothing over $8 million and maybe add ons if he has another great season, play off wins ect ect
with Free agency i think a lot of people are counting out Mike Wallace he is a Free agent and as the Steelers cap is to the max they need to trim that down i think we would only have to give up a first round draft pick but if we are going to go with a wide reciver in the draft then why not get one of the fastest guys in the whole league? with Wallace as #1 Morgan#2 Crabtree #3 Williams #4 and then Davis as well at TE we would have a legitimate wide reciver core for alex to throw to cause lets be honest out side of Vernon in the second half of the season Alex had no one as Crabtree is no where near a #1 Wide out #3 at best
Once again thanks and fantastic podcast keep it up will be keep in contact.
